Hi all.
I'm thinking of picking this tractor up as a project...but only if it has the ability to move and place 4000lb boulders. I cannot find the lift capacity of the bucket or the backhoe. Anyone know those lift capacities?

Massey Ferguson 30

Production 1963 - 1964
Dimensions
Weight:3000 lbs
1360 kg

No way...........

I speculate that a 3,000 pound bare weight tractor of 1972 (?) era would have a FEL lift of about 850 pounds and lift height would be low by contemporary standards.

My advice: Be safe. Rent a tracked crane with ample capacity.

Maybe that’s not the model then. It doesn’t look like that. Seller just said it’s a MF-300. It has a cab and backhoe attached to it.

It is really the pits when an OP posts incorrect information opening a thread.

i am out of here.

I know. That’s what he initially had it on Facebook listed as. When I commented about the capacity he said he had someone come by and tell him it’s a 300

There was a Massey 30 tractor that was sold as a Tractor-Loader-Backhoe. There was also a Massey 300 Loader that was mounted on the Massey 50A Tractor that was sold as a tractor-loader-backhoe. It is common for folks to see the tag on the left side loader support arm and think its a tag for the tractor, not the loader. The tractor id tag is on the lower left of the steering column surround (words are failing me, so look at your left knee when sitting in the seat or at the base of the shifters)
The 30 with a 34A loader will lift 3,000 to full lift and has a 5,000 breakout for the loader.
The 50A with a 300 loader will lift 4,500 to full lift and has a 7,500 breakout for the loader.
Posting a photo will help us ID the machine.

Please do not be offended by folks here. Some folks are quick to get offended and forget we all started with no knowledge.

Yep, that's a Massey 50A. Has a 300 front loader with a 54 backhoe. The rotary swing motors on the backhoes are a real SOB to find parts for. The backhoe can dig 174", with a 206" reach from the swing post. Total weight is over 10,500 lbs.

It looks well used so if your up for repairing something that needs a 3/4" socket set it would be stout backhoe. The capacity of a real backhoe vs a compact tractor with a backhoe is several fold. However if your not mechanically inclined then it might be worth passing on as hiring out the maintenance will be a darned lot of $$.
