My Massey 130 has the 2 level clutch. When using my Bush Hog, do I need to install an overrunning clutch with it, despite the fact the second stage of the tractor operates with a separate shaft from the engine compartment?

No. If it was needed MF would have built it into the tractor.

Only way you need one is if the tractor has a "transmission" driven PTO like my 4 speed 2000D. The Live PTO is a separate powered shaft which you can connect/disconnect with the second clutch plate controlled at the bottom end of the clutch pedal travel. I have one of those on my 3000D and for setting post holes you can't beat it in my opinion.

If you can stop the tractor and still allow the PTO to turn without it pushing you forward, then you don't need an overrun clutch. Overrun clutches are only needed to keep the inertia of a bush hog from pushing you forward when you push in the clutch on a tractor without live PTO.

What others said.

You have the live PTO (2-stage clutch). IT is not needed
