Greetings from Mississippi! I need some help tonight. I am having to replace the right front hub bearings in my little 3000. the seal I removed was almost non existent. string, fence wire, vines and just about done away with it. my question is about orientation of the seal. it is cup shaped with a wire spring in the cup. it will drive hard onto the spindle & hub slip over it with the cup to the outside. with the cup to the inside it don't look the hub will slide over it. it looks to me like it was made more to keep foreign material out & not so much to keep grease in. I do not have grease able hubs but I have a hard time leaving that spring on the outside! thanks

This is a late reply, sorry you haven't gotten a response. The solid side of the seal should go to the outside of the grease cavity. Shouldn't the seal be installed in the hub before installation of hub? I'm not familiar with the 3000 spindle, but should be straightforward.

Maybe you have it squared away, I hope so.
