I was ask today whats the different between 3 dot compare to 4 dot brake fluid,and I don't have any idea.

Maybe someone could shed some light on this topic for me./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

The only difference I know of is that Dot 3 fluids can boil at temps as low as 400 F, while Dot 4 fluids can't boil before 450 F. Those numbers aren't exact, the real numbers are something like 401 and 448, but that's probably close enough.

Mosts new cars seem to have 3DOT fluid evidently. I took my daughters car to have brake pads replaced and was asked if I wanted the brake fluid replaced for $35. I had never heard of draining and replacing brake fluid. After researching it, seems that 3 DOT causes moisture buildup and needs to be replaced ever so often (24,000 miles recommended by the folks that make it). The other stuff may need replaced as well but I was looking specifically for 3 DOT.
