My B2400 has a problem with either the starter itself or the solenoid.

It takes several turns of the key to get it to crank. All the interlocks are working properly, battery is new, connections tight, etc. Apparently, this is a common issue with this model, and I'm wondering if anyone knows an easy test.

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply and link. I did a rookie mistake by not searching for this. I guess I need to get directions to the closest JD dealer!

Gomez: I had the same problem on my B2400. After installing a low voltage relay (in accordance with Kubmech's instructions), the problem has not
re-occured in over 3 years. See:

Hope this helps.
Wow, I put one of those on my Wheel-Horse garden tractor years ago, it's worked great ever since. By B2100 does the same thing, sometimes the starter just clicks 4 or 5 times before actually engaging, never even thought about this fix for it. Figured I needed a solenoid, guess I'll get another relay from the JD dealer. Thanks for the info!
