My B7100 started knocking while I was mowing. I shut her down and pulled her into the shop. I drained the oil and there was no metal to be found. I pulled the valve cover and discoverd a bent number 2 intake push rod.

I have attached a pic.

What would cause the push rod to get bent? Should I just replace it? Should I pull the head and investigate further?

I would investigate before reassembly w/new pushrod.....not sure if it warrants pulling head yet though..

How many miles? anything abnormal evident with rockers? it's even possible carbon could be culprit, valve lash adjustment to loose? (Were any other rockers loose before you took it apart? )

Foriegn material in cylinder? are glowplugs in one piece? Any way to look at cam lobes?

Then we have valves sticking/binding might be an idea to pour a little seafoam cleaner and let sit.

Check to see if that intake valve is stuck before putting in new rod.
