Still gotta replace a few boards today...in the rain....farm folks are stronger, mentally and physically than normal folks because we do stuff when it needs to be done....raining, snowing, -5* feeding...we have to take care of our animals..

And of course it's was raining 😁

Is this a new farm, or are you catching up on all your chores now that you have the tractor?

(long winded post)

It has been a farm in one way or the other since beginning of time, my wife's parents got the land and built a brick house on it in the late 60'S. Big garden and they raised tobacco until the mid 2000's, we started and raised about 2400' of Kennebec potatoes for 10 years and eggs, it's was a pig farm for awhile etc.

We had to get rid of all the animals we had, raised and sold great pyrenes, goats, alpacas and such due to family health reasons, we had to take care of her parents and mine, we lost our parents almost every year 2016, 2018 and her mom last year...we are just getting back into it.

We bought 5 acres back in 2000, then we got another 4 acres back in 2019, and then her mom willed the other 8 acres to my wife, the other kids split the sale of the house, we were the only ones that showed interest in the land for what it was, her sisters, and the brothers just wanted to sell everything for cash$$$

So it was neglected because family was more important.

Plan was to sell our 5 acres and move to the lake property, but when $ per sq.ft. went from $87 for new build to $276 a sq. ft...we lost that American dream, and then next thing you know we have a 17 acre farm, we want to reclaim several acres that have over grown, we still have it hayed for free to upkeep it

2nd part of the equation came down to we got 3 quotes to do a bunch of grading, erosion and water control etc. The bids were between $25K and $50K so the wife Sayed to just rent a machine and we can do it ourselves, well you can't rent when you have no idea what the weather will be doing....so we bought the tractor and we will work on our grounds at our convenience.

We have always wanted an orchard so, we started last year, and just added 10 more trees in the last 2 weeks or so
