Interesting. Saw a documentary or part of a series some time ago. Some of those crane operators have a terrible life, living out of a van, being away from home much of the time. Sometimes there are not hotels near a job site, and besides, the companies don't seem to want to pay that. So, a mini van, cott and microwave is all they get.

I "thought" those guys would live like kings! King size beds and Lobster brought by room sevice!

Liebherr does a good job of these type cranes, while 500 ton is nothing to sneeze at, the largest cranes in the world are not on land.

We are working on a Production Platform & Drilling Rig combination that will weigh 47,000 tons when finished. It will be skidded onto a barge and be transported to offshore Newfoundland where it will be lifted from the transport barge and set onto the Concrete Gravity Structure (base) which sits in approximately 350 ft. water depth.
