I have a 1970 Ford 4000 tractor with a 750 backhoe, and 1 of the swing chains for the boom broke. What is the best way to replace the chain(s) ?

Is that a Woods 750 backhoe?

Regardless, if you check to see if it is roller chain or leaf chain, you can
buy a new length of the correct size at various places on line. If
leaf chain, any forklift supply outfit should be able to get it. If you
remove a few links, there may be a size stamped into the side of a
plate if it is leaf chain.

Leaf chain should be used for the swing, and it is much stronger than
roller chain.

Any Chain and bearing supply should be able to get it take a leaf in there. Ive had one cracked on my old 3550 Ford hoe for many years. I did have to take my chain off one time to replace a swing post pin. You can take both pins out of the cylunders and take it all in. . If you have to remove it all the best way to get the rams lined bakc up theres a bleeder valve on the back of the unit where it attached to the Fords backoes clamp mount. Just un scew the bleed valve and you can pull the cylinders by hand.

How do you disconnect the chain from the post ? Is it pinned or bolted ?
