I had a electrical problem with my 1985 JD 750 compact tractor. The voltage regulator went bad and it burned both the wires going to the alternator at their connection point. I repaired the wires by cutting out the bad section and putting new connectors on. Then I replaced the voltage regulator. The tractor now starts fine but the charging light is on all the time, even when the key is turned off. I have to disconnect the positive battery post to get it to go off. I also check all the wiring, I could, to see if there was another frayed wire that might be touching the frame, but could not find anything. Could it be in the key switch and not disconnecting somehow when turned to the off position, but the light does stay on even when tractor is running?Any idea as to what to check next or what the problem might be?
