EX2900 Rpm engine speed often hangs up at working speed and doesn't want to return to idle. Spraying cleaner/lube on throttle-spring assy at pump seems to help for a while only. Ant thoughts?

Does the spring look to be weaker than new? Does the spring have corrosion?

This is right from the Yanmar manuals.

There isn't a spring in the throttle assy. Instead it rely on friction conical washers (item-2)

Looking at the parts diagram, you can make an easy adjustment, ever so slightly, back off item-10 and item-11. Then adjust item-11 to sit where it's needed to place proper tension for the throttle to behave correctly. Then tighten down item-10 to hold item-11 in place.

Should you need manuals of parts support, our Yanmar group is here to help you,

The governor shaft sticks. Return spring and throttle shaft are free, so problem seems to be internal to the governor. Can return it to idle setting with a socket on the shaft nut. Looking for a diesel mech who can go in to the gov. and put it back together.

thanks to Bmaverick. Turns out the throttle shaft was bent inside the dash. Works fine now.
