What type oils should I be using in my hydro and my rear axle.
Is it typical 80/90 type stuff for the rear end?

and which system lubes the tranny?

just to be clear... utf fluid in the hydro, and 80w90 in the trans and diffy.. or utf in all 3.

you -can- use aw32 in the hyds.. but i don't reccomend it in case of inter-sump leaks..

I ended up getting Super Tech heavy duty tractor hydraulic & Transmission oil
because it met the M2C134-D spec you mentioned on a previous post.

Do you think the UTF would be a heavier consistency to avoid leaks?

I did end up with the 80-90 for the tranny and Diffy but chose the GL-5 spec
over the mineral type. Did I goof here as well. From what I gathered the mineral spec stopped at '52 for Fords.

Mine is a '58 640...

This tractor is not leaking anywhere now and I don't want to cause one by putting in the wrong fluid.

The Super-Tech stuff seems to be a type of UTF made for Wal-Mart...

I bet it will work well in the hydro

Walmart utf oil meets the m2c134 spec and is fine in your hyd's, diffy, and tranny.

the 80w90 gl5 oil is also ok in your diffy and tranny.. and in fact.. I prefer it.

utf or aw32 ONLY inthe hyds'.. though i prefer utf here in case of leaks.

yes.. the gl1/3 or yellow metal safe gl4/5 issue was for the 9-2-8n, and fergy's with belly pumps full of brass.

if ya bought the walmart supertech transdraulic oil you should be fine. I use it in my ford 5000 and NH 7610s as well as my old ford 00 and 01 series tractors.
