Have eliminated several problems with the fuel gauge system - the voltage regulator has been repaired and the gauges checked BUT the fuel sender unit is beyond repair- the coil has gone and the instrument guys can't get it apart without destroying it.

Please can anyone advise if a Ford 4000 OR 8000 sender uses the same unit because these seem to be available from the parts dealers but none of them have any knowledge of the 6000

The tank aperture is 39 mm and the impedance range is 10 to 75 ohms

Re: FORD 6000 DIESEL FUEL SENDER UNIT - NOW REPAIRED

FIXED

Found an excellent repair shop in Adelaide - they were initially reluctant to take the unit apart because they figured they would not get it back together without destroying it. I told them I would take responsibility if it failed and suggested they cut through the body with an ultra-thin disk. After repair to the coil, I proposed to bond the body back together with fibreglass tape and epoxy.

In practice, they brazed the body, also checked the gauge and voltage regulator - all working now for just $120 - a very fair price
