1976 Ford 6600 8/2 tranny (w/ dual range underdrive). When I bought this some years ago it had a cap on the tranny for hyd fluid but no dipstick there. The dipstick at the driver's left heel is 5" long. I purchased a tranny cap with integral dipstick (11" long). Like having two wrist watches that show different time, Im not sure which is correct. The short dipstick at the driver's heel shows over filled. The longer one in the tranny cap doesnt touch the fluid so it shows underserviced. The tranny operates just fine and seemingly so do the hydraulics. Can anyone tell me which is the correct one? Thanks, Lou

With the Dual Power transmission, the dipstick on the rear axle is correct. If it is just an 8 x 2, then there is a dipstick in the transmission too.
The rear end and transmission on the Dual Power have to share a common sump.
