Getting and excavators feet wet

May be how deep you can go! but how firm is that bottom? Tracks can't go everywhere, then it's time for a swamp excavator

If it has a place to put one on the undercarriage, believe I'd go ahead a find a suitable shackle, and put on it...

Been there, done that, with something a tad larger...

sage advise, I think you should follow it even if your just near the edge of the water. you never know when a slick spot will suck you in and you don't want to be looking for a good attachment point 2 or 3' under water/mud.

Now you could get a smaller one of these to do the same and no chance of getting stuck.

Good opperator will clean the pond in a very short period of time.

You, too, could be on Google. :)

I completely agree, pond bottoms are dangerous territory. You can sink quick. Have you considered pumping it down for a few days first or starting a sipion with 4 inch hose elevation permitting?

You might get lucky being in water up to the house, but things can also get nasty really quick.

I would suggest getting a machine with a bit more stick and play it safe. For the driveway, put some planking down to protect it.
