My 1983 6.2 litre suburban glow plug relay went out so I put a new one in yesterday it wrked at first and then the light stayede on too long and now it wont click on could something else cause this or should I take it back to napa as it was a lemon.

Similar issue o my 87 right now. There is a temp sensor that is in the cross over pipe that can go bad and tell the controller to stay on.

But, you are better off disconnecting to power to the controller and using a relay and a non- maintained switch to power the glow plugs. This will require you to manually activate the glow plugs, but its more reliable. This mod is done often and can be found in all the GM diesel forum sites.

Been there also.
Any good relay activated by a push button switch and count thousand and one, thou and 2, thou and 3 worked for me. If it did not start after 3, I'd repeat and go to 5. (at-30 I'd simply go to -5)
One guy simply had the 2 leads under the dash and touched them together and counted, but then he was Mr good enough!
