After about 200 hours my 10w40 hydraulic oil smells burnt. Has anyone put a hydraulic cooler on a T5C or T5D, I have one of each? If so, please post pics and tell me where you got.

Or has anyone used full synthetic oil in hydraulics? I've been told synthetic oil stands up to higher temps.
Thanks, Geo

Is there an issue that is causing oil heating?? (worn pump,,, etc)

Using loader or backhoe cylinders a LOT should not cause heating ,,,
but a worn pump, or hydraulic motor can wreak havoc on oil.

Major use at high ambient temps can sometimes cause a need for a cooler,,, otherwise,, I would be looking for a cause.

My T5D has a new torque motor. I do use them when it's hot.

How would you tell if pump is bad? I do have an IR thermometer. What is the normal operating temperature for a pump? Can pumps be rebuilt or do I buy a new one?

I can not give you a "cook-book" for diagnosing a bad pump/motor,,, that is not in my knowledge base.

Another thought,, do you have a power beyond circuit on this machine?
improper connection of the power beyond will heat the oil,,, RIGHT now!!

I put a temp probe in hyd sump and noticed my overheating issue is really caused by going up hills. Temp is fine while working on level ground, loading or digging. I've concluded the terramite is not a hill climber nor is it a transporter of materials. So I use a dump trailer to move dirt and mulch, not the terramite. Terramite is a loader not a mover.

Plan to use my terramite on level ground and see if my hyd oil smells burnt.
