JD 5203 2wd or 4wd?

Ok, I am buying the 4wd. One last question; R1's or R4's?

Thanks.

unless you are going to be driving the tractor accross your lawn or an area you dont want any ruts in, i would go with R1's. i think they are a bit cheaper as well.

For ground engaging work, I prefer the R1's. Less slippage, lower fuel consumption rate, faster through the field.

Take the R1's. R4's are too much of a compromise just to have a little longevity.

For ground work go with the R1's. Much better pulling power for disks and plows.

R1 = traction!

R4 = tougher (normally) when used in gravel, or areas with thorns and other puncture hazards. Will still go flat, but wider tread is a bit better.Easier on the grass too.

Turf = Easy on the grass and smooth on the road. Slick when trying to pull a load. Usually pretty thin and easy to puncture.

You can go with foam fill in the tires if you are in a place with a lot of thorns. Helps with weight, traction, stability and won't ever go flat. But spendy.
