2001 JD 5310 w/ 542 FEL
I recently bought a 2001 JD 5310, 2wd, with 542 FEL. Tractor has 1,200 hours on it. I looked on fastline , tractor house, equipment trader and other websites for comps. I found most 5310's in this year all had 2k + hours and the lowest i found was listed at 18k+. They also looked much "rougher" lets say, with most having double the hours. I also liked the fact that it was built in Augusta, Ga and somewhere in India, etc. Just curious if i got a great deal, fair deal, or a bad deal, lol. I paid $14,500. I have attached a picture of the tractor below. Thanks

You got a fair deal. It's only a 2wd machine. Keep rear ballast when using the loader. Notice the bucket has a second edge. Makes for easy replacement.

Yep. Good deal. I just traded my 5310 MFWD(1000 hours), 541 loader, 4 in 1 bucket, new grapple and forks. When I bought the grapple I had 3rd function added to the loader. I was trying to sell it for $27K but got ready to get the new tractor so I traded it for $23,500. Best tractor I've ever owned. I loved the 540E PTO.

The value of equipment depends on its condition and options. I suspect the loader is a little newer than the tractor as if I remember correctly, the loaders used on the 5x10s were the 520/521 and 540/541. If yours is in the condition expected for a 1200 hour machine, no major issues, and has the typical options (SyncShuttle transmission, mid SCVs with the joystick), you did fairly well. If it has the loader running off of the rear SCVs and has no mid SCVs, the clutch is about ready to replace, your tires are dry rotted, and it has the unsynchronized Collar Shift transmission, you did okay but not awesome. Typically 2wd 5x10s without a loader and 2000-3500 hours list for what you paid, and a loader adds about four grand.

You could also get the current gen equivalent 5065E with 500-1000 hour as your 5310 but without a loader for about what you paid. With a loader, it's just under $20k.
