JD 5425
Hey guys and gals, I have a question about the John Deere 5425 and 5525. They seem to have the same motor except the 5525 has 10 or so more HP. So the question is how do they get 10 more HP out of the same engine? The reason I ask is, I have a 2008 Cab 5425 and was curious how to get the extra HP out of my motor. Thanks for any info you can provide.

According to JD parts 5425 & 5525 have different injection pumps so my guess is 5525 IP pumps more fuel than 5425 IP in same amount of time.

Thanks for the info! I don't think 10 HP is worth the price of a new/rebuilt pump but if my pump goes out I'll ask about a 5525. I didn't know if they might have different cams or something else that might get the extra HP.

If you desire you can go to JDparts.com & you can cross reference the part numbers on various engine parts. If you decide to check then look up radiators because normally more HP requires more cooling capabilities.

Thanks again, I had not thought about extra heat. The next rainy day we have I'll do some research on part numbers.
