How do you pull the oil seal? Should I just screw in a sheet metal screw and attempt to pull it out? Need to drain the transmission fluid first? Where can I find replacement seals and are the brake shoes no longer any good since they been soaked in oil?

Welcome to TBN
Not sure which oil seal you refer to here. Do you have the rear axle out now? Is the silicone shown in pic a substitute for a gasket?
The rear brake shown can be seen in JD parts

The seal on the rear axle can be seen here in JD parts. Depending on s/n, you may have to browse to find if there are any differences or changes.

You don't need to fool with the axle. The seal you're after is under the drum. You need to get the drum off to access the seal. That part can be a challenge.
