Lift arms are being used as a drawbar with a multihole drawbar attached to the lower links. The hydraulics will lift with no problem but they will not lower. They go down "overnight" due to normal internal leakage. Any ideas why?

On almost all machines there is a knob under the seat for the lowering speed of the arms. Adjust this as desired.

Many thanks for that - I'll give it a try.

I have no experience with a 2140, but this drawing will show where the knob is on top of the rockshaft housing. However it does look like early s/n machines do not have the knob. I don't know how that "strap" works.

Thats very helpful - had a feeling it might be something like that!

Actually the strap is just used for a handle. Very common on open station tractors to accidentally close rate of drop screw while getting on/off tractor.
Here's the SN break for strap VS knob
