John Deere 60
Recently bought a John Deere 60. ran fine last fall but now will not start. After charging the battery with leads inverted ( did not see it was a positive ground system)I have replaced the battery and installed it correctly but it will not start. Turns over very slow. Can anyone help me?

It's a basic question, but I have to ask. Are you sure you got a 12 volt battery? Some people are under the mistaken assumption that all 2 cyl JD's are 6 volt. If battery is correct and fully charged, then battery cables, and starter are the only things left in the cranking circuit. Are both of the cables in good shape? Do they have repair ends on the cables? If repair ends are used, be sure to disassemble the ends from the cable and clean that connection.
