Good Morning. I have an early 90's 770 with 1500 hours. A few weeks back I noticed that high gear would not engage so I checked the hydro fluid and found it to be low. One of the quick couplers for my loader was leaking and has been replaced. Since I was due for yearly maintenance I drained and changed all filters and fluids per the owners manual.
Yesterday I finished getting everything back together. Low gear works great, pto rear, pto mid, power steering, loader and 4wd all work fine. High gear will engage now but is very slow to move and does not get to full speed. I put nearly 4 gallons of hydraulic fluid in before the dipstick reading was good. After driving for a few minuets I topped it off as needed. I have not seen any leaks and the dipstick reads the proper level.
What could I be missing here? Could the system need more fluid even though the dipstick is reading good? I know some models have a bypass valve that needs to be cleaned, but I have not found one on this tractor.
