I have a 1995 Kubota L2650 where the PTO will no longer turn. Well, most times anyway. It may turn for a few moments before the PTO disengages itself. And every time when I engage the PTO lever it clacks loudly and disengages itself within a few moments. I'm thinking one of the shear bolts on my rotary cutter did not shear like it was supposed to and broke something behind the spline.
Also, if I have the engine off but PTO engaged, I can't spin the PTO spline on the back of the tractor. But if it is disengaged it turns freely in my hand which I'm not sure I should be able to do.
Can anyone give me an idea what I'm up against in fixing this? Most of the shade tree tractor mechanics are gone and all I have left is expensive dealers. My fear about doing it myself is needing special tools and/or finding parts (and diagnosing exactly what I have to fix).
I can't figure out how to upload a video here but I put one on YouTube to show you what's it's doing. 20170317 1027531 - YouTube
Thanks in advance for any help!
