Now comes to kubota 4240 for $23,000 with FEL R4 loaded tires. They are too hard to compair very different tractos.

I agree, but it looks like I'll be going in a few hours to sign the papers to my 4240!!! Ofcourse it's a bit more as it's a cab.

Is that 4240 a HST? Quick attach bucket?

The 3000 series JD's a quite a bit smaller than the 4000 but I find the overall dimensions of those are a bit smaller than the 4240, atleast by eye. Maybe it's the cab throwing things off!
