Looking at a Big Mo 500 in a few days, guy bought in new back in the 60s, hasn’t ran in a while but says it ran when he retired (it’s a contractor liquidation sale). I know parts are a pain so I likely wouldn’t buy it unless he lets me tinker and get it running to test out transmission first. It’s sat under a shed, the case 580 and dozer he’s selling look nice so it doesn’t look like he beat stuff around.

$2,000 fair if I got it running and moving? If I got 2 months worth of work out of it, would be worth it.

Buy the 580 and scrap this.

Asking 15k for the 580, which is too much, but still out of my current price range at fair market value

If you can’t afford 15k you better run away as fast as you can go from a 60 year old backhoe.
