I have a 72 deere 820 that the oil level is rising on. Compression check on radiator shows not coolant. Oil doesn't smell like diesel. Can hydraulic fluid get into oil????

Hyd oil can't get in radiator. I'll bet it's diesel.Since a lot of sulfur has been removed diesel doesn't has the same odor. 1st place to check for fuel leak is lift pump on the side of engine.

I agree with Jim, if the pump leaks to the crankcase that would cause your problem. Hope that is your problem as it is a cheap fix compared to anything else. I bought a replacement from NAPA without the bowl for about $40.
