Hello:
Last year I started to notice that wherever I'm mowing an area on the lawn that has a sharp curve, that the grass was starting to wear away. I thought it may have been because the ground was a little wet and that had the scalp rollers too low. I check everything and continued to mow along. This year the problem is getting worse. Everywhere I have to make a sharp turn the grass is gone.
I'm starting to think that the tractor, instead of turning the curve, is being pushed through the curve, cause the front wheels to tear up the turf. The GR2100 has Glide Steer so it has a pretty tight turning radius. Those wheels turn about 160 degrees - side to side.
Is it possible that there's a front end part that's worn or out of alignment?
The tractor is 7 years old with about 410 hours on it. I was also thinking that maybe I needed to get a new set of tires. They look okay, but I haven't been able to find any recommendations for how long a tire should last or how to determine - from tread depth - when to replace them.'
'
Other than that, the tractor runs perfect. No other problems. Cuts the grass great (except on the sharp turns).
Any ideas and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Mike
