While at TSC today I was checking out the oil & fluids offerings and noticed that there was Mystik brand, I think it was labled J5 (or similar) that indicated that it was Kubota SUDT capatible.
Anybody know anything about this brand?
2 gals = $32.00

Also noticed that the Traveller brand had a premium hydraulic fluid that indicated that it was a multiweight 20w-30. That would appear to put it into the SUDT capatible category also, even though it only indicated UDT.
Anybody know anythng about this one?
2 gals = $26.00

I've been using Mystic for several years. My hydro is maybe a bit quieter with it. I switched from Hytran. It's good too. Check the interchange list for Mystic. It's fairly impressive. That's what sold me at the outset. The downside is the expense and I think this is a Citgo product and you know who has their fingers in that!

Citco? dang, I definitely know who's got his socialist/communist leaning paws in it........
Course some would say theres some who's wanting to lead us down that very same slippery slope too, but thats a topic for another forum :D

re. Travellers, there is/was a member here, with a very good working knowledge of automotive oils, fluids and etc that tried to do a little checking on the Travellers brand grease (that I use and am happy with) and they wouldn't give any kind of breakdown on it. I doubt they'll give much info on the fluids and oils either. Kinda like how Kubota won't share much info on their "branded" oils & fluids either.

From what I've gathered on Kubota's SUDT, it's a "dino" based multiweight hydraulic fluid.
The Mystik sounds like it'll work but I'll have to decide whether I want to share any of my capitalist $$$'s w/ hugo chavis and his ilk....... Course in these days & time theres no telling whom gets a piece of the pie anymore....

Can't believe we are still trying to figure out if oil and oil products are in fact a world market.

Using either Mystic or Traveller brand that lists Kubota compatible will work fine.
As far as where it comes from, i'm guessing it comes from this planet. And I think there is an epa health warning about getting fingers in it....
Get the best compatible for the price and change as needed...

It's never a bad idea to know from where a product originates or to whom the profits go to. Given the info, I'll always try to do business with a manufacturer/supplier thats more benefitial to me than one who is less. Theres obviously more to a product than just it's price......

I'm sure the folks that purchased Quaker State motor oil back in the 60's thought they were getting the best capatable for the price, and they got a lot more than they bargined for.... Same goes for those that discovered that SUDT was in fact better for their HST model Kubota's than std UDT was, and ofcourse the UDT was the best capatible for the price at the time also......

I do agree with your statement here... Soooo just get the best compatible you can afford, and be happy that it appears we still have a choice.

As to UDT / SUDT, I think if you believe you should be using a multi-viscosity oil, you probably really should consider a synthetic... KennyV

Mystic produced a whine in my tractor, I will know for sure when the next oil change comes up and I switch back deere whether or not I can recommend it.
