Sorry Soundguy, 2 inches is 2 inches. If you cut 10 inches off of the inside tube and 2 inches off of the outside tube, you have not shortened the shaft 12 inches. 2 inches off the outer and 2 inches off the inner shaft will have shortened the shaft 2 inches.

The collapsed length of the shaft changes by the smaller cut. The working length changes by the total of the cuts.

Larry is right and in this situation it is the collapsed length that is important for getting a shaft attached and usable without binding (collapsed).

He probably decided that it was not worth the time arguing over something so prosto!

Best to stick with the "Tecnu", I buy it by the qt bottle. That will last for the me for the season.
