YM3110D
Hi all,

I’ve come across a YM 3110D for sale with a Koyker loader for sale for $8000. It was used as a trade in at a dealer and they know little about it. They started doing some repairs and then decided to stop and sell as is. Sounds like it’s got a radiator leak and some seals (which the salesman did not say) but the mechanic that looked it over is supposed to get back to me. I called Fredricks to see if there were any way to tell their work from another import. He said that there is a plate on the hood, which I do not see on this one. it does not have ROPS and the hour meter shows 115.

1. Is this a VM refurb?
2. What do you think of condition and price?
3. Should I entertain this or run for the hills?

I’ve read a lot of good threads on these tractors here which is part of the reason I’m thinking about taking this on. Though I’ve also read the warnings of VM refurbs. Any advice or opinions welcome. Thanks.

The YM3110D is close sibling to the YM330D. The engine is in the same 3T84 family.

The tractor is not worth $8K. There is a bunch of hidden tell-tale signs of abuse or neglect all around.

A machine like this needs a ROPS as it has a loader. This would be a $1,500 add on.
Observations are,
- Rice Tire on the rear wrongly matched. Would cause 4WD troubles in the transmission and drive-line.
- Hood is a bit off center
- Fuel cap/gauge is badly damaged. Any moisture into the tank would cause microbe contamination in the diesel fuel. This is a costly repair of the entire fuel system if it's been this way for a long time.
- The decals being the black background are very typical of a VN refurb, along with the very lower front decals under the missing grill showing the 3 cylinder. The Yanmar decal down there was typical on a few of the YMxx10 & YMxx20 models.
- Grill missing for radiator and the headlamps. mice and birds can make a cozy nest.
- The machine has that eerie surface rust under the base paint. This is common for the rice patty tractors after refurb, even with the UTDA, but the UTDA takes many years for this to slightly be exposed. Not so on a VN refurb.
- The lower engine plate with the black RTV goop worries me. There should be a normal gasket here. Black RTV is a bad flag here. Many RTVs are not oil resistant. Permatex makes an Ultra black oil resistant one, but I don't know what is on this machine. Red RTV is typical for bottom end engine work as it's made for oils and engine pressures.

The VN machines tend to have a higher problem for reliability. Meaning this is a 3rd time hand-me-down. Original use in Japan, exported to VN and the snot beaten out of it, lastly cleaned up with paint and shipped to USA. As a buyer BEWARE.

maverick, great reply. Glad to hear a second opinion from folks more knowledgeable than I.

Not encouraging for this machine. Hopefully I’ll come across another sometime. Seem like great little tractors. The Fredricks is more than double the price and a long ways away so in some part of my mind I was trying to convince myself That it might not be that bad. Never a good idea.

Not sure where you are located. However on the YTOG, we have a special thread to help people find their next Yanmar machine. Some of the postings come from this link. This site has been known for great deals from private owners across the country. It's gaining in popularity as FB Market place has turned into shambles of high prices con people.

Try this out, more listings lately than Craigs List too. If you run an ad-blocker, no worries, just scroll down a little more to see the listings.

Looks like it's been rolled over a few times. Not just the Tach.! a beauty.

It seems odd that the loader looks fine, as if the tractor rolled, and then someone decided to add the loader.

All the best,

Peter
