Hi guys….I NEED advice!!!
Currently Im on my second PT 425 with many attachments n I absolutely love my powertrac !!! Been a PT owner since 2000… id welcome feedback
I’m strongly considering upgrading now to my third… cold start has been the biggest bane in my PT 425’s … Maryland here!
Delema…
I’m torn as i also know I’ll have to upgrade my attachments( i have 6 ) too I believe? 3/8 fitting vs 1/2” …
Pros n cons aside from cost…
The two I’m considering is:
PT1430 - 999cc Gas Engine - 72” Lift Height $21,900
PT2430 -VS30HP Deutz Diesel - 96” Lift Height—while supplies last) $26,000

Depends on what you’ll be using it for. The 2430 is a better loader on level ground but not as versatile( even though all the attachments fit)as the 1430. The 1430 will do all the stuff your 425 does only it’s bigger.

Since u are in Maryland, may I suggest that (if you haven't tried them out in person) that u take the road trip to the factory and test them out side by side.
When I was looking at machines, I really enjoyed my visit to the factory and after testing several sizes it was very clear to me which machine was right for my situation.

I have a diesel 1430 and like RegL wrote, the side hill capabilities are limited on the 2430. So that should be the deciding factor. Small concern (if your younger) is that you have to climb up to the operator's station on the 2430 and after a long day it can be more tiring. As the PT ad list, you can't use mowers on the 2430 as the oil cooler is too small. This would concern me if I planned on using high HP attachments like trenchers or stump cutters (in a commercial environment). But if you use common sense, you can use anything. I prefer sitting on the rear half and watching the front as it give a better view.

Personally, I would not buy a 2430. In my opinion, the backhoe is not sufficiently robust. Therefore, if you are looking at the 2430 because you want the backhoe (would use it a lot), I'd look at another machine. For occasional use, just rent a mini excavator. Some of your 425 attachments could be used with a 1430 with a little modification and careful use. I have a 425 and 1845 (same front end as 1430) and I could see modifying a few (e.g. larger motor and quick connectors). Especially if you have a welder to make the proper size attachment plates.

I have a lot of machinery. But out of everything, the 425 is my favorite. I put larger wheel motors on mine and the improvement was amazing. I have two 425's, so I can compare them side by side. From the factory, the 425 is underpowered, mostly because the wheel motor are too small. I also increased the engine size and added additional cooling. Something to think about as another option.

@marrt - I like your idea for a "425+" version! Bigger wheel motors, and maybe the 1000cc version of the Koehler Pro motor...don't get me wrong I love my 425, but I've been using it enough to wish for a little more oomph in the same compact size package.

good advice above about the slope capabilities vs lift height above.

I have a 425 and a 1430. I had the same problem as you with a pile of 425 attachments. I cut down the attachment plate on the 1430 to accept the 425 attachments and welded the smaller attachment plates to the 1430 attachments.

The hydraulic 425 attachments (tiller, auger, power rake) work much better on the 1430 than the 425. No problems with overpowering the hydraulics on the attachments.
