Rock Bucket for FEL

I am wanting to build a rock bucket for my FEL for Case DX34 with LX114 FEL, pin on connections. My thoughths are to find a new/used bucket and cut out the flat pan and weld back in vertical bars at 2-3 inch spacing. Anyone out there took on a project like this or a different approach to picking up all those pesky "pebbles"?

I've thought of doing the same
I've though of cutting slots into bucket but I bet it would bend a bunch As the steel in the bucket is probably not thick enough
