My breaks are not working. Any advise? Pedal feels squishy and recoils back as expected. No breaking action tho.

Brakes?

Is it the same for both sides with independent pedals?

Good advice takes good information.

Thanks for the reply.
The right pedal employs some (very little) breaking to the right rear tire. The left pedal does nothing.

Have you messed around with the brake rod length adjustment?

Sometimes disconnecting the pedal assembly and manipulating the brake actuator rod by hand can show if the "internals" are good but needing adjustment, or if there are parts worn broken or missing.

Brake linings suffer wear when driving off with the brakes set. On my Fordson, the brake drums rust from disuse, and first application is STOP RIGHT NOW! I've learned to feather the pedal while driving along to polish the drum friction surfaces.

I'll try disconnecting the pedal assembly and manipulating by hand. What will I be looking/feeling for? How can I tell if the internals are worn or need replacement? Should I do this while the tractor is running?
