I'm working on a JD 245 Garden Tractor that's about 30 years old. I took the deck spindles apart to change out the ball bearings and there was so much grease in there I didn't realize the spacers, part M110008, have slots on one side. One spacer sits on the top ball bearing inside the bushing and one is on the bottom side of the bottom ball bearing. The spindle has a grease zerk on the top and I assume the slots allow the grease to pass through to the lower ball bearing. Does anyone know which way the slotted sides face before I reassemble? See photos for details.

I don't know the correct answer. So ONLY A GUESS. I would put the slot towards the ball bearing.

Thank you

That would be my guess as it will allow the grease
to get to the bearings

That's what I deduced as well. I got it all back together today. Nearly $600 in parts for the deck. Hope to get another 30 yrs out of it and after that I'll be too old to worry about it. Thanks for your reply.
