Not that I am trying to promote these snow casters but I forgot about these fellows in Ontario, Canada that make single stage 48 -60 inch snow casters that are ment for 15-40 horse power mules.

Ah to dream, as they would fit all our mules with rear mounts and 540 RPM PTO as well as the front mount skid steer crowd with the quick attach kits.

The chain drive has a rubber type chain tensioning system and the drive auger can be changed to different size gear if desired. The sprockets are secured on the drive shaft and the auger shaft with a tapered 2 piece Ringfedder type shaft locking system using a compression fit to secure them in place.

The 1000 and 2000 series can be used with a 540 Power Take Off or it can converted to be used on a skid steer with a high output hydraulic system with no smoke wrench or arc welding alterations by just removing the PTO shaft and attaching the skid steer mounting plate and a hydraulic motor.

They could be used on a large RTV I guess BUT the the hydraulic power pack would have to be very large like a skid steer high volume hydraulic system with a 25 to 30 gallon tank as it is a single stage snow caster with a solid cross auger and requires 20% less power
according the the Reist folks.

They have done a great job with their you tube videos and they take the time to explain everything.

If I call them tomorrow and ask for prices I will suggest that they advertise on TractorByNet too.

Wow, thanks Leon, I did not know about this company. I like those 3000 series snow thrower, but I bet they are super expensive. You might remember I just got a used Walco blower that I'm going to test next winter. If that fails to work on the dense drifts, these would work. Please message me if you ever come across a used one!

EDIT: Probably the 2000 series would do OK for me, and after looking at the pricing for the 2000 series I know that I don't want to look at pricing for the 3000. http://reistindustries.com/site-uploads/1000659/Files/SnowThrowers_CND_LIST_-_2000_series.pdf

I guess its either a case of "ouch" or good money money spent on a snow thrower
that will require less power and maintenance IXLR8.

I look at these units then shake my head and wonder why they are no longer made by the
machine builders south of the Canadian border.

The only thing that they lack is
1.serrations teeth cut into the auger ribbon to cut the snow pack into smaller pieces.
2.slick sheet material in the auger housing in these places on all three models
a. the rotating chute
b the spout

They would use even less power to remove the same amount of snow but shredding it
into smaller bits and probably throw it even farther.

Their "Series One" snow throwers would benefit from the slick sheet material as well.

The same could be said for the three Bertafranco 2 stage snow casters as they have serrations cut into the auger ribbon which is attached to the solid auger tube.

These units were designed for alpine snow conditions with deep heavy snow pack and come in three widths of cut.

The differences are that the Bertafranco units are designed and built according to the much more stringent European Union Safety Standards For Power Equipment

WHEREIN:

The chute is partially guarded by a wire cage, the cross auger is partially covered by a splash guard.

The same splash guard reduces the chance that large pieces of snow and ice will be ejected from the snow blower while the snow pack is pulled into the cross auger.

The cross auger has a solid large diameter tube to aid in carrying the snow to the center of the snow clearer as the implement carrier/Mule enters the snow pack to remove it.

The snow is being chopped up while it is conveyed to the center mounted impeller.

It is "ouch" for me as I only would like to have a snow thrower about once per year. My plow handles all other snows just fine. Now if I was further north where snow is measured in feet rather than inches... then it might be a different story.
