1996 production MF 261. Right side steering spindle locked up in spindle housing. I read not to beat on it because I'll just deform the top. I did beat on it a little.. but not enough to damage it. I took the whole assembly off the tractor by removing the bolts holding the spindle housing into the axle assembly. I then set it up in a 20 ton press at work. Pressed as hard as it will go and couldn't move it. I read about a measurement between the spindle housing and the steering arm that is supposed to be around .010, and mine is much larger than that. I believe the thrust bearing or washer has been ground into both the Spindle and the housing. I'm worried that even if I found some way to get it apart that the parts would be ruined at this point.

So, I had the idea of going to a tractor specific salvage yard and trying to buy another housing and spindle assembly from them. Do you guys think this is the right course of action? Open to any ideas.
