I'm looking at purchasing a tractor in Michigan. I live in New York and the closest/fastest way of getting to Michigan is through Canada. Is there any problems transporting a tractor on a trailer across canada? Will I have to prove ownership? Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Doug

Before you go across the border you must stop at US Customs to declare the tractor. That will allow you to return to the US with tractor. Canadian Customs may not be as friendly. Depending on what location you cross at. Sarnia can be a hassle. Detroit can be more freindly. But you will have to show ownership.
You may find that the extra 100 miles going down though Toledo is easier than trying to navigate Canadian and US Customs.

It ain't bad getting into Canada but when you want to enter the US it can be a real ****** without a passport.

Coming across the border from Canada requires an US citizen have a 2 pieces of ID. One must be a government picture ID (Driver License will do). The other can be a birth certificate.
If you are not a US citizen a passport is required.
