The building is 30 x 30 with a 10 shed on the side.

If you buy these buildings there is a few things to note.

You really want the upcharge to put purlins on the roof so the metal runs up and down and not longitudinal. It leaks if running longitudinal.

The side walls will leak less than the roof if run sideways and for a goat barn it probably isn't a big deal. If its for a shop or something then you do want purlins on the walls for the same reason. This is one reason they appear at first to be really inexpensive but when you start adding options they come up real quick in price to other options.

I don't know where you are at in VA but make sure it will handle the snow load. Many are not built, again another upcharge.

The last thing is really the kicker for animals. They need to have stub walls for the building to set on. If you allow urine and feces to get on the bottom rails/metal it will rust them out pretty quickly. Pole barns deal with this by using wood up 2 feet before switching to metal for animal applications.

Thanks, a goat is the only domestic farm animal I have zero knowledge/experience with. I was going to do beef but I don't have quite enough land to grass pasture a beef. I am thinking about 2 or 3 beef goats though.
What are beef goats?

Here is the thread I had when my shed was put up last year.

I went on their website and built the shed using their 3D program. Price was updated as you built it. The rep was very knowledgeable and actually saved me money by telling me that the snow loads in my area didn't need upgraded posts.

I expect to have to upgrade a few things, like wind and snow load, but in this price range, it is a very attractive structure to me. 30x30 is small for most farms but it would serve me for years and allow me to focus on some other, more important, tasks so I can grow it out. (My first house was only 960 SF. )
IT would be on dirt so that issue of urine rotting out the metal is a concern. But

A 30x30 pole barn is around 10k-11k for materials with a 15’ total dual sliding doors on a gable and a man door plus a 4’ animal sliding door on the side

If you’re not finishing the inside out and you could get someone to auger the post holes it would only take two guys two or three days to put it up. Our REMC will auger the wholes if they are not super busy for a resonance price

I have seen a lot of versa tube type loafing sheds pretty are up at the 15 year mark.

Something else to consider. I have half a dozen customers with hoop building for their cattle.

The either build a 3’-4’ wood post wall or a pour concrete wall and put it on that.

They are very well lit in the day which seems to make the cattle happier, and I sure am compared to a poorly lit shed which most are.

Got the first callback today. Taking quotes from 4 or 5 of them then gonna make some decisions on add-ons, etc.

Put a down payment on one this past week. I’m sure they are tired of me already. I asked a million questions and had him change the quote 5 or 6 times. But I went with Mr Carports and I’m pretty excited about getting it put in. The state doesn’t require a building permit for a barn. But my county has a 15 page Farm Building application packet. I’m biting my tongue and just filling it out.
