Trying to put this image back under my name...

[image]http://www.tractorbynet.com/forumfiles/450493-henro.jpeg[/image]

It was accepted as an attachment to a post in the signatures thread, and is 80x80 and used to work.

Now whether I try to upload it from my computer or refer to the url of the image here at TBN ( http://www.tractorbynet.com/forumfiles/450493-henro.jpeg ) I get an error message saying wrong picture type... /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

But it is a jpeg, and it is 80x80, and it used to work...

HELP! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

What might I be doing wrong?

Follow up Edit: if I click on that link to the picture from this post I don't get to the picture (get error screen). But if I open another IE window, and paste that link into the address field it does take me to that picture.

The link worked when I did a cut and paste on the URL. Just make sure there are no extra characters in your URL when you pop it into the box and attempt to link it.

Rename your picture to .JPG --> drop the 'E'. Then upload that newly renamed image.

Then try it...I bet it works.

Rather than lose what I might have been doing wrong in the first post I changed it a little and am trying again...seems to bring the photos up now...but for some reason when I try to insert the image using the instant markup for Image it appears as follows:

GatorBoy,

I tried that but the problem is that with XP apparently the file type is called JPEG. And if I rename the image as .jpg it then becomes .jpg.jpeg when uploaded from my computer...as far as I remember anyway.

So I guess my question is how do I rename the file and get the jpg to stick.

I guess one way is to open a dos window and do it manually, like in the old days... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Am I missing something when I say it looks like the defalt file extension for .jpg files is .jpeg in XP?

Do you have the option to NOT view extensions? Maybe you are really changing the prefix only, and by putting .JPG, you are not really changing the extension.

Man...I don't know.

I just put the photo in the root directory, so I could get to it easy, then did the old fashioned manual rename in a dos window ( from .jpeg to .jpg) and it worked.

I could then upload if from my computer and it was accepted.

It appears the problem was that TBN does not recognize jpg files that are called jpeg files by windows XP. At least on my machine they are anyway.

And even though the file of my image was accepted as an attachment as an image file with the extension .jpeg, referring to that image did not work.

Oh well, problem solved in the practical sense anyway.

I'm now back to my original self! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Whether that is /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif or /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif I'm not sure... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
