Hi, Will the Glow plugs on Ford 1500 work on if Glow plug indicator (wire type) is burned out?
Have seen this question posed online but no definitive answer.
Anyone know of a cheaper priced replacement that will work?
Please See pic.
Thank you

No the glow plug indicator is in series with the plugs, so if it is burned out, they won't energize.
Search glow plug indicator for Ford or Shibaura tractor. You will find those sold for Kubota cand others. Resistance of the coil is the question, but, if you want a cheap alternative, then that's the risk you take.

OK thank you! It seems opinions vary on it being parallel or in series.. can you brifely explain circuit based on picture? (might help others with this issue)
Yes the glow lug indicator is a 20AMP. They want $50-$65 at dealer (changed 1980 mid year) I have seen some 20 amp generic on ebay for $20.. anybody use one of these?
As long as it is 20 amp.. would it not be ok? It is only activated when heating glow plugs? Could there be an issue if it was not exact Ford/Shibaura model specific?

On my 1910 the glow plug circuit is most def inline with the glow plugs themselves.
