1983 Ford 1700, 4WD, 770 Loader, Woods backhoe, Woods brush hog,etc.
When I got my Ford 1700 tractor it came with the brush hog noted above, but no bracket for a 3 point hitch (see first image from a photo I found online). Mine has the 2 lower pins for the PTO arms and then 2 chains that get pinned to the 3 point hitch connector on the tractor.(see second image).. Anyone know what that bracket it called or a part number? I'm trying to find one online and not having luck.

If you are mowing on uneven ground, you need to keep the chains:

Can't tell from your picture, does it have the tail wheel?

Ah, okay. I definitely brush hog uneven ground so will happily keep chains. Yes, it does have the tail wheel.

The main advantage is for backing up a steep incline while the tractor is still level. Where a toplink would keep the mower level the chains let the back end go up still cutting close to the ground.

Even if you use chains I think you still need the brackets. I actually have the identical mower. Out of dumb luck I somehow have the manuals. Hope this helps, I think you need numbers 19 and 20.
