Picked up the \"rubber\" tire chains...

yesterday.
They're just what I thought they would be .
I'll probably put them on this week end but no snow now.

Brad,
Check out my post on 12/17, there's a brief discription.
I'm thinking they'll not be as aggressive performance wise as steel chains but I was looking for something "easy" on asphalt and concrete.
After I try them, I'll give a report if anyone's intrested.

Re: Picked up the \"rubber\" tire chains...

I don't have the rubber chains myself, but my brother has had them on a John Deere 300 for about 3 years and he likes them very well. His house was new and of course the black top too, so he bought them to plow the snow. He has been very happy with them for that application, but I don't know how well they would work for dirt/mud etc.

Of course I keep telling him it's time to upgrade the deere and get 4wd...........someday he will listen, but you know how older brothers are, their pride won't let them take advice from the younger one /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I don't know what brand he has, but he lives around the Lancaster PA area, so I suspect he has the ones someone else mentioned from that area.

Well, I got them on.
Not to bad to install but they are stiff. The rubber is pretty heavy. The dealer told me after they're on and run awhile re-installation is easier.
I can lift the back wheels with the backhoe so that was a plus.
I did let the air out of the tires to get them as tight as possible. 'Took her for a rather long ride , no appearent problems and it didn't shake the "be-jeebers" out of me.
They are very similar to the the picture someone was kind enough to post.
Mine were 120.00 + 6% tax. They're made in a shop in Lancaster , Pa.
If someone could give me assistance on posting pictures, I'll be happy to show them.
I guess I tipped my hand on computer skills.( when I was in school our only computer was "coal-fired")
Seriously, I've got a Kodak(dig.) and Kodak softwear. I can email from the softwear but not sure how to get them here.
Back to the chains, still no snow but I'll let you know.

Gave up the ghost and converted the whole house to oil lanterns... now we can have a 8 page dissertation on the use of the proper fuel..... home heating oil, # 2 diesel, or # 1 diesel, and don't forget kerosene......... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
