i was changing the trans oil in my 1965 855 wheel horse and the manual says 40 weight engine oil. i put 40 in and ran it then checked it. the oil foamed up real bad. Do i use gear lube or engine oil ?thanks

Assuming you are talking about the hydrostatic trany, mine calls for engine oil also, but 10-w-40. Haven't noticed a foaming problem.

I have an old 1967 1077 with a Sundstrand hydro tranny and it calls for automatic transmission fluid. Last change I did, I used the Dexmerc (or is it Mercdex?). 40W oil seems a bit heavy to me.

I don't have a manual for my B-80. If you have a gear driven tranny and not the Hydro and you don't live in a Very cold climate 80 -90 Won't hurt a thing. I do use 40 wt oil in my 257-H. it has a Hydro

I use 80-90 gear oil in my C-125 8 speed.. I think that is what was specified, but I'm not absolutely sure of that. It's about an '82 machine.
