Snapper 8hp RER
I will be buying a new lawn tractor to replace my 8hp Snapper RER which is 28 years old and just went bad on me. I guess I should not complain:). My price range is $1500-$2000. My lawn is 3/4 acre and basically flat. I have been looking at either the LX423,LX427, or LX468 models. I had heard that since Toro is now manufactured by MTD instead of Wheelhorse, their quality/reliability has suffered. What suggestions can anyone give me on this matter? Has anyone experienced any reliability/durability problems with either of these models? How has anyone found Toro manufacturer/retail support in the event of a problem? Thanks for your help!

The newer model Toro's are a lot harder to work on than the older ones and not as well built. If you want a tough machine that will last another 28 years look for an older well maintained Wheel Horse. Having said that the newer ones are nice to mow with when they have the foot control trans, tilt steering and the rest but 1500 to 2000 won't buy one new.

You could bay a new Snapper RER you know.
