- "Old Reliable" - 1979 Ford F100, 300 cu.in. 6 cyl., T-18 4-speed, 6-leaf rear springs - built to work!

Please tell me that I'm just not seeing the 4 chains on each corner holding the tractor to the trailer. I know I can't see everything from the limited picture. It's just that from the picture I see, it appears to be a candidate for the Darwin Award with one flimsy ratcheting strap across the floor of the tractor, which wouldn't be adequate for even holding a 4 wheeler on the trailer.

dargo
I used the winch on the front and a cumalong on the back strapped to the loader and put the rachet strap over the middle.I hope this makes you feel better...:)

Mine is a 1996 F150 4X4 short wheel base that I use to pull the 16 foot bumper pull and 2 horse trailer. I play in the dirt too. My wife's is a 2004 F350 PSD 4 door Lariat and 3 horse Exiss slant. We like em both!! Tractor is a Montana 2740.

My 98 Dakota 4x4, 5.2 litre with a 7000 lb. trailer with elec brakes both axles.
I use 4 10,000 lb ratchet straps 1 on each corner plus one over the loader by bucket & 1
on the backhoe bucket. At all wear areas I have the straps fed thru pieces of fire hose
to save the straps. This setup works well with my Kioti Ck20.

It's amazing what those Dakotas will do, they are a perfect match for someone who needs a truck that can tow but not a big 1/2ton. My 98 V6 3.9l hauled three sleds with 3 men and all their gear 3hrs north up through the steep White Mountains highway every weekend in the winter. It was a little tight inside but that V6 had plenty of power and the truck had great brakes.
