It's also the reason for mis-firing .

I think what everyones really waiting for is to see who comes out with a half ton diesel first. I know ford says the 2010 model. Has dodge said when yet?

I think Dodge is slated for 2009 (or maybe the 2009 models )

I have heard a few sources that say Cummins is making a small V8 diesel (as opposed to the inline 6 used in the 3/4 ton) that will be available in the 2009 Ram 1/2 tons. I can't wait!

A new Cummins V8 diesel motor will also be available. Both gas and diesel V8s will use 6-speed automatic transmissions.

My Ford dealer says they have been told to expect the diesel at the end of the summer. It will be a 2010 but sold in 2009. Ford has always brought out the new year models in August or so. He said to expect power in the range of the 7.3 L Powerstrokes used up to 2003.

My brother in law got a 6.5 bed on his new Supercrew in June after coming out of a 2005 Supercrew. He said you can tell the difference when you go through a drive up or to a parking lot.

I just returned my 2 year least 06 F150 Crew Cab and it had the 6.5' bed so it has been around for a few years.

Funny how different markets are in different parts of the country. Besides playing on the farm, I make my living being a Dodge and Chevrolet dealer in a small mid-western community of about 2,500 people. I outsell the local Ford dealer 3 to 1 Dodge in the truck segment, and my Dodge store outsells my Chevy store 10 to 1 in the truck segment. Most of the Dodge's I sell are 2500 and 3500 series trucks, and a whole bunch of 3500 cab & chassis, very few half ton's, but we do a few. Seems in this part of the country my Dodge store sells mostly all of the HD trucks, and Ford and Chevy sell the 1/2 ton's.

Then your area is the exception. From traveling all over the Ohio, PA and NY areas over the last few years I have seen this over and over. Ford and GM have the truck and farm market. These numbers are backed up by the sales numbers where Dodge is still trying to catch up.

I will say this though, the majority of the women horse owners I sell hay to drive Dodges. They are also popular with the homeowner who uses the truck as a daily driver. Also, the Dodge Ram van sold quite well in these areas but the GM took over that spot but the Sprinter is taking that market back. Does Dodge get to keep selling the Sprinter or did they lose that when Daimler sold them?

One thing I do know is a great dealer will outsell another brand easily if the other dealer is terrible. In my local town there are two Dodge dealers and both of them have attitudes, I have never dealt with the GM dealer and the Ford dealership is better then the Dodge dealers (not by much). I had a few experiences with the one Dodge dealer and I made a deal with them on a Jeep Grand Cherokee and when I went to sign papers they tried to raise the price on me. I was getting ready to walk out on them when they finally went back to our agreed upon price. Since then I will never deal with that outfit again. But if I was to drive 30 miles closer to Buffalo the dealers up there are amazing. West Herr owns a lot of the different makes and they have great service and are just great places to deal with. But for some stupid reason I keep trying to deal locally and support the local guys The West Herr dealers are huge and from dealing with them a couple times I know why. If I ever go to buy another Jeep or Dodge it will be from one of their dealers.

Who do you sell the Dodge chassis cabs to generally? The one local lumber yard we do a lot of business with has a ton of Ford F-550's with flat beds and quite a few Internationals with flatbeds and booms. The other two lumber companys run all GM trucks.

I think it is a regional thing? Around these parts Dodge is king of the work trucks. Especially on the farm and on construction sites. Followed by Ford, and GM is a pretty good ways back I am sorry to say. The Dodge cab & chassis first and foremost go to farmers and ranchers. A lot of them put the Dew-eze and Bessler bale beds on them and use them to feed cows with. Secondly they go to pipeline contractors, and get a lot of flatbeds put on them for pulling 30'-40' gooesnecks hauling pipeline equipment. My biggest customer is a pipeline contractor and he has over 50 Dodge trucks. And third they go to other types of construction, such as electrical contractors and general construction contractors. I do a huge cab & chassis business. Dodge has got one heck of a good cab & chassis since they got back in the market last year. For the first time ever Dodge 3500 cab & chassis sales surpassed Ford F350 cab & chassis sales about 3 or four months ago.
