Default gooseneck or ball mount

I have an 05 chevy 1/2 ton crew cab that I haul a 30 hp TLB and round hay bales with every month or so. Currently I use a ball mount car hauler type trailer. I have been thinking or going to a gooseneck deck over with a beaver tail, or a ball hitch deck over and keep the car hauler.

My question is, how much proformance will I gain with the gooseneck over the ball mount. I know that the truck is undersized for the load but I can't justify running 20,000 miles per year with overkill just to run 500 miles per year with the right truck. My loaded trips are usually less than 30 miles. I would like to help the truck any way that I can.

I would personally stay with what you got until you get the proper tow rig. In my state it is illegal to tow a trailer with a higher GVWR than the trucks tow rating. So say you get a 14,000# trailer it will be over your trucks 8,500# tow rating or there abouts. Even empty you could get fined.

Plus if you have a warranty issue and the dealer notices the hitch in the bed it will give them fuel to deny you claim.

Maybe it depends on what you call "performance". If you mean faster acceleration, better gas mileage, or such, I'd say you can expect little or no improvement. But if you mean better stability, less sway, easier and more comfortable handling, the improvement will be like the difference between day and night.
