I have 17K miles on mine and it is the supercab XLT 4wd which I bought new. After about a 1/2 hr the salesman came back and said 20K and and its mine w/ the trade. I called him an idiot and proceded to walk out. He was following me out the door asking me what I wanted and i retorted with I asked for no BS and the bottom line. I was driving home in my truck when the cell rang 5 minutes later and it was him saying sorry if i offended you. I hung up. An hour later he left a message on tmy cell and the price dropped 4500 dollars. I hate BS artists and I wouldn't buy a bag of potato chips off of him.. I'll keep driving my slug as I don't pull my trailer all that often. I owe 2500 on my 05 still under warranty and can't see going into deeper trk payments now. If he knocked the 4500 off as I was sitting there I probably would have bought it. I think I'll Im going to look at the Chevy 2500'S...
The salesman was just doing his job, I promise you one thing, you call any of my sales staff an idiot and Ill bounce your butt off my lot so fast you wont know what hit you. You will not get a call in five minutes, nor will you get a message on your phone. Ive told plenty of clowns like you about the bottom line, fair market value. Nada and KBB tell us what that is not you.

You will never get a bit of my business. I work the same way. I walk on the lot and say you have one chance. If I do not like what I hear I walk. I hope this economy we are in weeds out the bad dealers like you and the good ones I deal with stay in business.

You won't be in business for long with an attitude like that.

And I let you, We dont chase business, it chases us because we take care of our customers after the sale. The bad dealers are disappearing because they let you control the sale. I actually encourage you people to go to the competitors unless you are reasonable. All I ask is that salesmen let me make that decision. Simple reason being, weak dealers will go out of business selling at cost. $18,000 utility bill. 79 payroll checks. They wont make it. We will.

Ha, No John it wasnt, I was actually chuckling as I wrote all these things. I really wasnt as tough as I said, sold plenty under cost. Im putting the pen away for good this year and thats how I came across this thread. Researching tractors for some property I purchased. Its a bit true about operation costs though, youve got to profit somewhere. It might suprise you how low the gain is for the risk.

Cardealer,

Can I sell you a tractor? It only has 20,000 hours on it and was only owned by 6 people. They said they were really good to it changing the oil every 2000 hours or so.... All in fun.. Just kidding.

If those six people all owned equipment rental companies, that would be one sweet deal indeed!!!!
